LCR&A was retained to be a special consultant for the evaluation of criteria for design and construction of deep foundations for this international, joint-development project. Large diameter (8 ft) steel piles were designed to be driven at specified depths. The drivability of the piles was investigated with different sizes of hammers. The effect of scouring in the vicinity of the pile, near the mudline, was also studied.
